Professional Overview
Dr. Saroj Adhikari brings over 25 years of professional experience in
energy-sector project development, covering engineering design management,
project management, environmental & social studies (including resettlement planning),
and applied research.
He has successfully led multidisciplinary teams and coordinated with
Government agencies, NGOs/INGOs, development partners, and international stakeholders
across numerous high-impact assignments.
Most recently, Dr. Adhikari served at the Joint Secretary level as
Senior Energy Advisor to the Government of Nepal for the
1200 MW Budhigandaki National Pride Hydropower Project and
large-scale solar energy development (up to 400 MW) in Province-2.
His international experience includes collaboration with leading multilateral and
bilateral agencies such as ADB, World Bank (MIGA), IFC, and FMO, as well as
globally recognized engineering firms and government institutions across
Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Dr. Adhikari holds degrees in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the Philippines
and a Ph.D. in Renewable Energy & Hydropower from
RMIT University, Australia. He is a recipient of multiple national honors,
including the prestigious โNepal Bhusanโ award.
Currently, he serves on several Boards of Directors and Review Committees for
national energy initiatives, including strategic hydropower planning,
river basin planning, and environmental & social assessments under
the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Government of Nepal.
